This is a breakout board for the MP3209 boost (a.k.a. step-up) converter from Monolithic Power. What this board does is to convert a variable low input voltage into a constant high output voltage. In other words, it converts the voltage from, for example, a LiPo battery into a suitable voltage, like 5V. This allows you to connect a 5V sensor or an Arduino to a low voltage battery. Just connect your battery to VIN and GND pins and your board to VOUT and GND pins. That’s it.
The MP3209 includes under-voltage lockout, current limiting, and thermal overload protection to prevent damage in the event of an output overload.
The board comes with two mounting holes and 0.1″ (2.54mm) spaced pins. You can choose the output voltage in the menu here above. The options are output 5V at 300mA or 12V at 200mA.
