If you think that mechanical buttons are a thing of the past, now you can add a capacitive touch pad to your projects.
This board features the Atmel AT42QT1010 capacitive touch sensor, that senses capacitive loads nearby the pad area. When a load is detected, the AT42QT1010 raises the OUT pin and turns the LED on. That simple! No microcontroller is required, just the power supply. You can monitor the OUT pin to receive the sensor status: HIGH when the pad is touched, and LOW when it’s not.
The board has 2 solder jumpers: one solder jumper connects the LED to the AT42QT1010 (so the LED is turned on when the pad is touched) or leaves the LED unconnected so it can be driven externally (using the LED pin). The other option is for selecting the operation mode: fast or slow, that impacts on the power consumption (check the datasheet for more details).
On the board you can find 0.1″ (2.54mm) spaced pins, for traditional headers or right angle SMD headers, that allow the board to be attached to a glass or other planar surfaces.
The board comes fully assembled and tested.
